Autumn Drama Event

Every Autumn, for 4 weeks, we run a Victorian drama event which looks at certain social issues comparing them with life today. A short script is learnt in advance of the visit. The play is performed with a professional actor after a tour of the museum. The guided tour, lating around 50 - 60 minutes, takes the children through the cluttered and dusty shop, offices and work rooks of JB Bowler, Victorian engineer, brass founder and mineral water manufacturer.

Writing and performing plays, understanding and using appropriate grammar, following written instructions, turning dialogue into reported speech - all are relevant to LITERACY HOUR. Work sheets are available for use in class after the visit, as are LOAN PACKS if your visit is History related.

The event lasts approximately two hours (add extra time to visit the shop or if you wish to eat a packed lunch on the premises). Full teachers' notes, script &c are sent well in advance

Bookings taken from late June - £4.00 per head (Staff/helpers free)
