President of the Bath Railway Society, millionaire and record producer, Peter Waterman presented the Museum of Bath at Work with the Engine Shed Manager’s chair from Bath Green Park Station at the AGM of the society in September. Director Stuart Burroughs accepted the chair from Mr Waterman and Chairman John Froud with pleasure and managed to persuade Pete Waterman to sign his copy of Mel and Kim’s Showing Out (7″ version)—which the great man had produced in 1986. Former Chairman of Bath Industrial Heritage Trust Joe Blake

We are sad to report that Cdr Joe R Blake MBE, RN died on 28th July 2018. He was 99 years of age. Joe was Chairman of the Bath Industrial Heritage Trust from 1990 until 2000. He joined at a time when the Museum was going through a particularly difficult period and guided the Trust in bringing ‘the ship to an even keel’. The second, you might say, as Joe had previously managed the SS Great Britain on its return to Bristol in 1970. He will be sadly missed and all at the Museum send condolences to his family. More...
