A
Second Permanent exhibition
- The
Story of Bath Stone - Was opened
in 1984 and is concerned with what is perhaps the City's most important
industry - the one largely responsible for its unique architectural
character.
The
museum also features an accurate reconstruction of the Cabinet
Making company Keevil & Son the contents of which were saved
by the museum in 1979. The room features all the equipment used
in the trade for which Bath became famous after supplying luxury
furniture to the Georgian city. The exhibition also features material
on the other important Cabinet Making firms including Bath Cabinet
Makers Ltd, Norris & Sons and others.
| Other
collections in the care of the Trust are valuable plate
negatives of Stothert and Pitt whose dockside cranes
can be found throughout the world; unique gas lighting time
switches used in town and cities in the last century. In addition
many more smaller but relevant collections have been given to
the Trust for safe keeping. |
